Volkswagen is finally tackling EV affordability head-on. Series production of the ID. Cross is officially underway in Pamplona, Spain, with an entry-level trim arriving in mid-October starting at just €27,995 (~$32,000 USD).

Positioned as the electric twin to the gas-powered T-Cross, the compact crossover is VW’s direct response to mounting pressure from affordable rivals like BYD.

Tech & Packaging

Despite a tidy city footprint (4.16 meters long), the dedicated EV floor layout unlocks impressive interior volume. Inside, the cabin features a 12.9-inch center infotainment screen paired with a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster—complete with an optional “Retro Mode” that mimics the original Mk1 Golf.

The Electric Future Take

True mass adoption won’t happen with $50,000 luxury SUVs. By combining cost-effective LFP batteries with a sub-€28,000 price tag, the ID. Cross is the practical, everyday EV Europe has actually been waiting for.
