The Paris Motor Show opens its doors on Monday, but the best of it arrived early. On Sunday night Stellantis took over Hangar Y, the restored airship hangar in Meudon on the edge of Paris, and pulled the covers off six concept cars in a single evening. Renault had already shown its new electric people mover a few days before. We went through every reveal and picked the five electric ideas we most want to see on the show floor at Porte de Versailles.
Some are close-to-production previews with a price attached. Others are rolling sketchbooks that may never reach a dealer. All five say something about where electric cars go next, and two of them bring back names we never expected to see again!

Why it matters Steer-by-wire and the Hypersquare controller are not show-car fantasy. Peugeot says this exact controller is the production version going into the next e-208.
The original RCZ was a small coupe people bought with their hearts. The RCZ Vision keeps its Zagato-inspired double-bubble roof and reinvents nearly everything else. It is a four-seat electric grand tourer on Stellantis’ new STLA One platform, and it carries the most ambitious spec sheet of the weekend: 500 hp, a 1,000-volt system and a solid-state battery just 110 mm thick, developed with Factorial Energy.
Peugeot claims up to 600 km (373 miles) on the European WLTP cycle and a 10 to 80 percent charge in 10 minutes. Treat both as targets for now. Solid-state cells are still pre-production across the industry, and Peugeot marks its own 11.5 kWh per 100 km efficiency figure as not yet confirmed.
The cabin is where it gets genuinely new. Steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire replace the mechanical links to the wheels, and the driver holds Hypersquare, a squared-off controller with four rings for the main functions that turns slightly less than one full rotation from lock to lock. Transparent Micro LED displays float above it, the center screen can switch off and nearly vanish, and the dashboard clock comes from the French watchmaker SERICA. The light blue Alcantara and recycled leather interior is the most inviting thing Peugeot has drawn in years.

Why it matters It is the clearest sign yet that Europe’s cheap EV push will be fun as well as frugal. If Citroën hits €15,000, this is a car people will buy because they want it.
Citroën promised in May that the 2 CV would return as an affordable EV. On Sunday night it showed what that car looks like, and it is pure joy: an orange four-door hatch (Citroën calls the color Infra Red) with freestanding round headlamps, exposed wipers, a vertical windscreen, 18-inch steel wheels and a fabric sunroof. It is 3.76 meters long and targets a weight of about one tonne.
That low weight is the whole strategy. A lighter car needs a smaller battery, and a smaller battery is how Citroën plans to reach a starting price of about €15,000. It will be built in Europe and join the range by 2028, slotting between the tiny Ami and the C3. Power, battery size and range have not been announced.
The interior is our favorite room in Paris this week. There is no dashboard in the usual sense: a single cylinder holds the one-spoke steering wheel, one control lever and the paddles. The seats wear yellow tartan, the front passenger seat pulls out, a removable basket replaces the center console, and the radio, called Radioën, detaches and comes with you. We would like one, please!

Why it matters SUVs pushed the minivan out of Europe. Renault is betting a well-designed electric one-box can win families back, and its panoramic screen is already headed to future Renault EVs.
Forty-two years after the first Espace invented the European minivan, Renault wants to make the family car desirable again. The E-Space is a one-box electric people mover, 4.70 meters long and 2.02 meters wide, rolling on 23-inch wheels at the four corners. A wide U-shaped light strip wraps the front and rear, the Renault diamond floats in a field of pixels, and the windscreen flows straight into the bonnet.
Inside, Renault describes six identical individual seats in three rows on a flat floor. They can swivel slightly, and some layouts gather them around a large table. A curved OpenR Panorama display stretches 1,130 mm across the cabin in place of a conventional dashboard, and Renault says that screen is coming to its future upper-range EVs.
Renault has not shown the cabin in photos yet, and it says there are currently no plans for a production version. Its world premiere is Monday morning at 8:30 CET in Hall 6, so we will add interior photos once they are out. We hope the reaction in Paris changes Renault’s mind.

Why it matters It is the most practical idea in Paris: one small car that hauls six people on Saturday and a load of mulch on Sunday.
The original Multipla was famously odd and secretly brilliant. The Multiplay borrows its name and its attitude. In family mode it is a 4.45 meter MPV with six seats. Slide the rear module forward on its guides and it becomes a four-seat pickup with an open bed, and the roof spoiler rotates around to become a rack for two bikes.
The details are where Fiat had the most fun. The second row includes the Petsenger seat, a modular cushion that takes a child seat, a dog, a small table or luggage, and part of it detaches to double as a leash. The front passenger seat turns into the Sunseat, a rear-facing lounger under the glass roof. Almost every soft surface is stitch-free 3D-knit textile in a watermelon palette of green, red and pink.
Fiat calls the Multiplay a laboratory of solutions rather than a preview of a specific model, and it has not said what powers it. We have marked that box as not announced rather than guess.

Why it matters DS needed a jolt. The F3VER gives the brand a face you can recognize from across a car park, and a simpler way of building it.
DS has had a quiet few years, and the F3VER (say it fever) is its loudest statement in a long time. It is a compact electric hatch, 4.19 meters long on a generous 2.70 meter wheelbase, painted in a dichroic Cosmic Blue that shifts from bright blue to deep violet as the light changes.
Look at the lights. Up front, a vertical totem carries the DS emblem between Y-shaped lamps. At the back, each lamp is built from 16 LED panels on an ultra-light magnesium frame inspired by the glass roof of the Grand Palais. DS calls its approach Design Intelligence: one-piece bumpers, no stick-on plastic around the wheel arches and fewer parts overall.
DS describes the F3VER as an exploratory concept and claims class-leading range and interior space without giving numbers yet. Its design cues are meant for future DS models, and visitors to the stand can personalize their own version in a web app and share it.
