Electric Future started as a place to track the cars replacing the combustion engine, and somewhere along the way it became a set of tools: the Range Chart, the Charging Speed Chart, the Supercharger tracker and the Cheapest EVs list. You use them to make one of the biggest purchases of your life, and that shaped what we built next.
Today we are opening Solid State, a membership for people who are actually shopping for an EV, or just want to know the numbers better than the dealer does.
First, what stays free
Everything. Every story, every chart, every tool and this newsletter stay free, exactly as they are. Nothing you rely on today is moving behind a paywall.
What members get
- A weekly members email. One short note on what EVs actually cost: price cuts, incentive changes and the deal worth knowing about, taken straight from our charts. The first issue each month is the Price Watch, ranking every affordable EV by price per mile of range.
- The Buyer’s Desk. Stuck between two cars? Reply with your shortlist and what matters to you, and we send back a straight answer using our own range, charging and price data.
- The Data Drawer. Our Range Chart, charging speeds and upcoming-EV list as spreadsheets you can sort yourself, plus a first look at every new tool.
Why charge for it at all?
Keeping 178 cars, their prices and their charging curves current is real work, and we want Electric Future to stay independent and honest: real numbers, no hype, no guesswork. Members make that possible, and they get the deepest version of what we do in return.
It is $3 a month, or $30 a year. Cancel anytime.
Already a free subscriber? Use the same email and you can upgrade in a couple of clicks. And if you are not ready, that is completely fine. Thank you for reading Electric Future either way!
