Today we published The Definitive Guide to Upcoming Electric Cars: 127 cars from 66 brands, due between now and 2028, each with a photo, a price, a range figure and an arrival date. It took a lot of digging, and we are proud of it!
Most “upcoming EV” lists stop at the US border. Ours does not. Some of the most interesting cars in the world right now will never be sold here, and we think you should know about them anyway. So the guide covers cars built for China, Europe, Japan, India and Vietnam alongside the ones heading to American dealers, and every entry says plainly whether it is coming to the US.
A few that stopped us in our tracks
- Ferrari Luce. Maranello’s first EV is a quad-motor, 1,035 hp five-seat liftback with a cabin co-designed by Jony Ive’s LoveFrom. Due in Q4 2026, and yes, it is coming to the US.
- BYD Seal 08. A 5.15 meter flagship sedan for about $29,000 in China, with flash charging that adds 400 km of range in five minutes.
- Slate Truck. A bare-bones two-seat pickup with no paint and no screen, starting at $24,950. Production is slated for late 2026.
- BYD Racco. A boxy kei car with sliding doors, built purely for Japan and priced to undercut Japanese automakers on their home turf.
- Denza Z. BYD’s luxury brand arrives in Europe with a 1,600 PS four-seat electric GT.
- Citroen 2CV. The Tin Snail returns as an electric city car, targeted at under EUR 15,000 for 2028.

Every car sits in one alphabetical list you can search, sort by arrival date, price or range, and filter by brand or body style. Tap any car to open its full entry: what it is, why it matters, the specs we could confirm and the source for each one. If a figure is an estimate or a manufacturer claim rather than a tested number, we say so right next to it.
If you only care about what you can actually buy here, jump straight to the US-bound cars. There are 33 confirmed so far, with more listed as likely.
