Rivian R2 Lands June 9: Order Invites, First Deliveries, and Demo Drives Begin

The wait is almost over. Rivian just gave everyone one date to circle: June 9.

That is when the R2 officially launches. Order invites, the first customer deliveries, and public demo drives all kick off on the same day. Less than two weeks away.

Rivian shared the news in a company blog post laying out exactly what happens that morning.

The configurator has been live for a couple of weeks already. But June 9 is when the first wave of order invites goes out. An invite lets you turn your build into a firm order. After that, Rivian says the truck gets built and delivered within two to six weeks.

So who gets the early invites? Two things matter most. When you reserved, and how close you live to a Rivian Service and Demo Center. Reserve early, live nearby, and you move up the line.

There is more nuance. Current R1 owners tend to see faster delivery. Drivers with expiring leases get timed around that date. If you lease through Rivian, you are already in the system. If you lease elsewhere, add that info to your Rivian Account now.

R1 owners do not jump the entire queue, though. Their invites get mixed in alongside everyone else.

Every invite arrives by email. So check your address is correct and let Rivian past your spam filter before the ninth.

Delivery order also depends on trim. The Launch Package ships first. Premium follows in late 2026. Standard arrives early next year.

June 9 is also the day the public finally gets behind the wheel. A handful of journalists have driven the R2 already. The rest of us have not. That changes when R2s start rolling into Rivian Spaces, where you can see the truck up close and take it for a spin.

One catch. You cannot book a drive until launch day. No point calling your local store early. They cannot sign you up until the ninth.

For an EV this anticipated, at this price, that is a date worth remembering.
