Imagine being stuck in traffic, and having the ability to literally fly yourself over the stopped vehicles. That’s one of the ideas behind this flying car, which performed this stunt on a road in San Mateo this week.
Watching the short video clip almost looks like you’re seeing a badly Photoshopped image of a car being moved over and above another.
But indeed you’re watching the Alef Model Zero electric flying car do a test run of its flying capabilities.

The strange looking car is considered an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle, and upon closer inspection, you’ll see it’s a series of rotors concealed behind a metal mesh, in general car shape.
Only able to drive at around 25 miles per hour, the low speed vehicle is designed to fly in all four directions, much like a drone.
Alef Aeronautics plans to further test and improve their flying car, which will sell for around $300,000, and already has 3,500 pre-orders.
