Volvo’s New EX60 Is the Goldilocks Electric SUV, and It Looks the Part

Volvo has officially pulled the curtain back on the Volvo EX60, a mid-size electric SUV that lands squarely between the compact EX30 and the larger, more stately EX90. And honestly, it might be the sweet spot the lineup has been waiting for.

The EX60 is sized just right. Not oversized. Not toy-like. It has proportions that feel balanced and confident, with a stance that looks planted without being bulky.

From the side, the wheelbase, roofline, and overhangs line up in a way that feels calm and deliberate, very on-brand for Volvo. This is the kind of SUV that looks equally at home in a city parking spot or pointed toward a mountain road.

Big Range, Quick Stops

Under the clean Scandinavian skin, the EX60 is doing some serious EV work.

Volvo says the EX60 will offer multiple battery options, with top configurations pushing toward around 400 miles of range. That puts it firmly in long-distance territory, not just commuter duty.

Charging is equally impressive. Built on 800-volt architecture, the EX60 supports high-power DC fast charging, with Volvo claiming 10 to 80 percent in under 20 minutes on a capable charger. That’s the kind of charging speed that changes how road trips feel, fewer long waits, more get-back-on-the-road energy.

The Surprise: A Rugged Side

Alongside the standard model, Volvo also revealed an EX60 Cross Country variant, and it’s a welcome twist.

This version gets more ground clearance, protective cladding, and a tougher visual attitude. It still looks refined, but with just enough rugged detail to suggest dirt roads, trailheads, and weekend escapes. It’s not pretending to be a hardcore off-roader, but it feels honest about being more than a pavement-only SUV.

Thoughtful Tech, Lighter Footprint

As expected, the EX60 leans heavily into Volvo’s push for cleaner production and smarter materials. The company says the EX60’s carbon footprint is comparable to the smaller EX30, which is notable for a vehicle this size. Battery sourcing, manufacturing efficiency, and material choices all play a role here.

Inside, Volvo is keeping things modern and restrained. Expect a clean interface, strong software integration, and the kind of interior that feels more like a well-designed living space than a rolling gadget lab.

Why the EX60 Matters

The EX60 feels like Volvo at its most confident.

It’s not chasing extremes. It’s not oversized, overstyled, or overloaded with gimmicks. Instead, it’s aiming for balance. Range that actually works. Charging that respects your time. A design that feels calm, cohesive, and nicely proportioned from every angle.

Production is expected to begin in 2026, with deliveries rolling out later in the year.

If the EX30 is the clever city EV and the EX90 is the family flagship, the EX60 might end up being the one most people actually want.
