Dacora is not a brand any of us have heard of before. But that may change, if the Hudson, New York based company succeeds in bringing it’s striking art deco sedan to market.
So, what sets this new luxury brand apart?
$500,000. All-electric. Entirely hand built. Hugely customizable.
Plus a design that feels like a vintage Chrysler Airflow meets a high-end Chris Craft speedboat.
There’s a distinctive aesthetic that eschews a modern profile, despite being packed with high-tech features.
Founded by two MIT-trained engineers, Kristie and Eric D’Ambrosio-Correll, the idea is to coach-build (hand build) each model in small volumes in upstate New York, aiming for just 50 cars in 2028, and 100 in 2029. From there, they hope to scale volume up slowly.
The Art Deco look continues inside, with an interior featuring a wood and copper-accented dashboard, traditional analog-style gauges, and ‘shy-tech‘ displays emerging from the wooden dash.
In terms of customizability, the modular center console offers a range of impressive themes, including:
The Larder (mini fridge)
The Executive (desk + pen)
The Barista (espresso)
The Botanist (bonsai under glass)
The Humidor (cigar drawer—yes, really)
The Virtuoso (vinyl or record player)
For even more customization, Dacora will offer an interior that can be easily reupholstered, with two new limited-edition material choices being released each year.
Set to utilize GM’s Ultium battery platform, Dacora will offer a clean, all-electric powertrain, making this striking sedan run smoothly and silently.
An estimated 400-mile range and 800 horsepower will give the car amazing power.
The $500,000 Dacora is currently taking a refundable 10% deposit, making it out of reach for all but the deepest pocketed. Supposedly the company has over 100 deposits so far.
It remains to be seen if Dacora will make it to full production. But we’re intrigued by such a striking, style-forward sedan that will certainly turn heads if it hits the road.
